Q: Are the louvre blades available on different angles?
A: Extensive research and field testing in all parts of Australia has shown 45° as the optimum angle for effective screening of sun's rays across the seasons. Hi-Light sunscreens are precision manufactured at this angle to optimise the benefits of natural sunlight yet reduce net heat gain typically from 20% to 50%.
Q: Are Hi-Light Sunscreen louvres weatherproof?
A: The louvres are fixed at 45° which will allow some rainfall to pass through. However they will protect your building from the very worst the weather can throw at it as Hi-Light Sunscreens have been tested in wind velocities of up to 65 m/sec and are certified as a cyclone debris deflection system.
Q:What is the difference between a Sunscreen and a Sunscreen Catwalk?
A: The primary purpose of each is to provide effective protection against sun and wind while elegantly enhancing architectural design. Hi-light Sunscreens have been designed to support a wind loading of up to 65 m/sec. The Sunscreen catwalk has been designed to enable a person to walk on top of the panel and combines the strength of a structural grating with the effectiveness of a Sunscreen.
Q: When should I use SS203/60 louvres as opposed to SS203/80 louvres?
A: SS203/60 louvres have a 20mm shorter blade than the SS203/80 louvre and therefore allow more light to pass through the panels. On the other hand the SS203/80 profile will provide better debris protection when used in cyclonic areas.
Q: What finishes are available?
A: All Hi-Light panels can be supplied in mill finish, anodised or powder coated in a range of colours to suit your specific needs.
Q: Can the bars be spaced at centres different from your standard widths?
A: Because Hi-light aluminium panels have been developed to meet Australian Standards 1652-1992 and AS1664 and AS1665 load bar spacing is at 30mm or multiples of 30mm and cross bars are spaced at 50mm or 100mm. It is not recommended these bars be spaced any wider as the structural integrity of the panel will be compromised.
Q: Can Hi-Light Sunscreens be cut to suit my requirements?
A: Hi-Light panels are always manufactured to suit your specific needs. Our team will assist in designing to suit the project and will work closely with the client from concept to complete satisfaction. Drawings are always issued for your approval prior to fabrication to ensure dimensions are correct.
Q: Can I order Hi-Light Industries products ex-stock?
A: As all Hi-Light products are manufactured to suit the specific needs of the client, no panels are carried as stock items.
Q: What lead times can I expect after placing an order?
A: Lead times will vary from order to order. The Hi-Light team will work with you to ensure the product is exactly right for the job and then fabricate Sunscreens Systems in the finish of your choice to your specifications. Typically delivery may vary from one week to as many as seven weeks depending on quantities required. Once your delivery schedule has been agreed at time of order you can be confident it will be met.

Q: Does Hi-Light manufacture in materials other than aluminium?
A: As Aluminium is light strong corrosion resistant and spark proof it has become the material of choice in most modern architectural and engineering situations calling for sunscreens, gratings and Walkways. Hi-Light Industries has been in the forefront of this industry trend and chose to specialise in aluminium fabrication over 15 years ago.
Q: Why are the panels swaged instead of welded?
A: Using enormous pressure, cross and load bars are locked together without any loss of material strength. Welds weaken the structure, can break, and may corrode.
Q: Can Hi-Light panels be used in conjunction with other metal fabrications or components?
A: When different metals are used together there is always the possibility of some reaction occurring. These possibilities should be discussed with our technical team. Isolating tape, which is a double sided foam tape can often solve the problem. Placed between panels and framework it isolates the dissimilar materials and precluded occurrence of reaction.
Taptites are stainless steel self-tapping screws commonly used to fasten Hi-Light Sunscreens to frameworks.
